Owl and Birds of Prey Visit

A big THANK YOU to Lynn Tomkins from the Blue Mountain Wildlife refuge for bringing some of the birds she has rescued for the first grade class to see. The kids LOVED it!

Owl Pellet Project

Our class has been learning about owls these past few weeks and today we took apart owl pellets to see what we could find!

Wow! We cleaned-up at the awards assembly!

So proud of our kiddos who won not only best behaved primary class at the October assembly, but also best behaved in the cafeteria and during reading support! Thanks to all of our students for their hard work!

PuMpKiN Patch!!!!!

We are very lucky that the first grade classes at Sherwood get to take a trip to the BMCC pumpkin patch next Tuesday, October 23rd. We will be leaving Sherwood at 12:00 and arriving at the pumpkin patch at 12:15. While we are there we will get a tour of their AG department and get our very own pumpkins! Students need to bring their signed permission slips to school by Monday, October 22nd AND $1 to pay for their pumpkin. I will collect the money and the school will get it to the BMCC staff.

Please be sure to bring your money and signed permission slip early.

Everyone Wants To Look Their Best, But...

"Everyone Wants To Look Their Best" by Mrs. Curtis' Room 10. We made this class book the day before picture day to help us get ready for our class pictures. First, we read the book Picture Perfect by the second-grade students of Fletcher Walker Elemenary School in Westwood, California then we illustrated our very own. Each week I will try to publish our spelling words onto the Spelling City website. It also can be found as an app for your smart device. There are tons of fun and interactive ways to practice your students spelling words. We will be using this website in class, but I wanted to pass the information along to you at home as well. Picture and Activity Day Tomorrow!

Wow! This week has FLOWN by! Just a reminder that tomorrow is picture day and also activity day! We will have health checks, hearing screenings, and bus evacuations.

We have officially started our traning for the Daily 5! The Daily 5 is a reading program which allows students to work several times each week in one of five stations, independently. We have been practicing very hard and I am super proud as to how well we are doing! Here are some of our students practicing the "Read to Self" station.

Picture Release

Today, I sent home with your student their picture release form. This form allows me to post pictures of your students on this blog. As you can see, we are just starting... however, we have so many fun things happening in class, that I just can't help but want to share them with you... so there will be much more coming! Please have your student sign and return their release so that they can be a part of our classroom blog!
